In a total team effort, Hyde came out on top against Gould Academy on Saturday afternoon. Mason Carmel ‘12 set the pace with 12 first quarter points. Hyde played sound defense and was able to shut out Gould in the second quarter. Heading into the half, the Phoenix built a 24-point lead. Leo Shan ‘11 contributed off the bench with four points in his best game of the season. Blake Smaldone ‘12 demonstrated hustle throughout the game and finished with six points, and Ryan Merrill ‘11 scored his first points of the season when he hit a 3-pointer late in the game. Hyde held Gould to seven points in the second half and went on to win 45-13. In their next game, Hyde will host Morse High School on Thursday afternoon.
