Phoenix 10,  Hebron 7

Ballers Notch 2nd Win of the Season

Posted in Girls' JV Basketball | Comment

After playing their first 4 contests on the road, the JV Lady Phoenix had the oppurtunity to play on some familiar hardwood. Facing Hebron for the second time this season, the ladies spent the week preparing specifically for their opponent they faced this afternoon.

The ladies came out firing in the first half, however, only two shots were fortunate enough to find the bottom of the net. On the other end of the floor, the defense held strong, led by Jane Miller ‘11 snatching any and every ball that came her way, and the JV Ladies entered the locker room with their first halftime lead of the season! They continued to keep firing in the 3rd but could only get 2 more points up on the board. Hebron made a run for it, however, Liberty Alfredsen’s ‘13 4 points in the 4th quarter, capped off by her game winning jumper with one minute left sealed the victory for the JV Lady Phoenix.

Aside from Liberty’s 4 points, contributors on offense consisted of Jane Miller ‘11 and Jessica Smith ‘10 with 2 points each. Kayla Sheldon ‘11  and Courtney Durepo ‘12 led the way on defense with multiple steals and fast breaks.
