JV Ladies Struggle to Keep Up with Kents Hill

Posted in Girls' JV Basketball | Comment

The JV Ladies headed north to Kents Hill on a snowy Monday afternoon for some mid-winter basketball. Our squad had the pleasure of playing against our opponent a few days earlier at the JV Jamboree in Hebron, and knew what they would be up against. The first quarter was pretty tight, however, Kents Hill picked apart our box and one defense to take a double digit lead into the half. After making some halftime adjustments the ladies were able to slow them down somewhat, however, not enough to be on top when the final whistle blew.

Jessica Smith ‘10 led the team in scoring with 8 points. Jane Miller ‘11, Aneth Batamuliza ‘11, and Courtney Durepo ‘12 each contributed 2 points to our offenseive production on the day. Liberty Alfredsen ‘13 and Emilie Rose ‘11 handled the ball well and gave the team some great opportunites on fast breaks. On the defensive side of the ball, Mali Perry ‘11 played strong lock down defense in the box and one scheme.

While these women fell short on the scoreboard, they refuse to give up and continue to grow as individual basketball players and as a team. Next week they face a familiar opponent in Hebron. I look forward to witnessing the improvement this team has made since our first game, as I know they will display their strides, and continue to do so, as the season progresses.
