Hyde - 4
Gould Academy - 2

It was déjà vu for the Phoenix as they faced Gould Academy in the MAISAD semi-final for the second year in a row.  The first seeded Hyde were determined to fight for a different outcome and succeeded in doing so.  With only a minute and a half gone by, Cece Jackson ‘10 scored on a great shot just outside the penalty box that beat the keeper high.  It took Gould thirteen minutes to answer when post grad Lauren Tamposi carried through Hyde’s defense and struck a similar shot from outside the box.  Despite getting a hand on the ball it beat keeper Tierra Williams ‘10 over her head to tie the game.  Both teams played hard, but Hyde clearly had the momentum and continued to attack the Gould net.  Finishing proved difficult and the half ended a tie at 1-1.  Hyde continued to drive hard at the opening of the second half, creating several scoring opportunities.  Cece Jackson ‘10 scored her second goal of the game on a direct kick placed perfectly wide and over the keeper.  Gould attempted to generate but backs Shannon Vize ‘10 and Katy Duchesneau ‘10 played hard and shut many of them down.  An unfortunate miscommunication occurred in Hyde’s box resulting in a loose ball.  Gould capitalized and tied the game 2-2 with 13:03 minutes left to play.  After over an hour of intense effort, senior striker Zoe Dorian’s ‘10 hard work paid off as she struck a shot that the keeper mishandled resulting in a goal.  With 7:30 left to play, Hyde continued to drive as if they were down.  With only eleven seconds on the clock Kayla Sheldon ‘11 struck a crossed ball squarely past the keeper to drive the point home.  The Phoenix played an outstanding game against a tough Gould team.  They look forward to hosting the MAISAD finals this Saturday at 2:00pm.
