Hyde - 7
Gould Academy - 3
Hyde travelled past the ghosts and goblins to Bethel, Maine on Halloween to play their final regular season game against Gould Academy. It was a bittersweet afternoon as the 12 seniors prepared for one of their final high school matches. After a tough loss to Kents Hill the team was determined to end with a win. They came to play and charged from the opening whistle to the last minutes of the game. After several near misses the Phoenix scored when Zoe Dorian ‘10 carried the ball and shot low past the keeper with 29:31 left to play in the half. Gould answered nine minutes later when post grad Lauren Tamposi tied the game with a breakaway goal. Hyde went on to score three more before the half making it 4-1. Goals were scored by Zoe Dorian ‘10, Brittany Harris ‘10 and Sage Harris ‘10. The second half was dominated by Hyde with three more goals added, two by Cece Jackson ‘10 and one by stopper Scout Gauld ‘10. Gould only carried the ball into Hyde’s end a handful of times but managed to score twice in the process. Both goals were scored on crosses that snuck behind the defense. It was an outstanding way to finish an incredible season. The team ends with a 7-2-1 record and is seeded first in their league with a 6-1-1 in MAISAD play. They will host the semi-finals on Wednesday, November 11th.
