Bath and Woodstock XC Square Off

Posted in Cross-Country by Phoenix Sports | Comment

The Hyde-Bath cross-country teams competed against their Hyde-Woodstock rivals today in a good old Maine Nor’easter here on the Hyde-Bath campus.  The running conditions were cold… wet… and muddy.

The Hyde’s boys team had a very sound victory over the Hyde Wolf Pack team.  Winning the race was Zach Pfosi `10 with a wet-weather time of 19:48.  Finishing third and fourth overall were Ryan Sunshine `12 and Richard Stites `11.  The scoring was completed by sixth place finisher Sol Melendy `10 and eight place finisher John Garvey `11.

Boys Team Scores
Hyde-Bath - 22
Hyde-Woodstock - 35

The Hyde-Bath girls competed against one of the strongest Hyde-Woodstock teams in recent years.  Woodstock placed the first four finishers before Hyde-Bath brought in Emma Falkinburg `13, Barbie Gimbel `10, and Hailun Ni `10 in fifth, sixth, and seventh places respectively.  Lilly Smith `11 finished fourth for Hyde-Bath (11th overall) and Jessica Smith `10 finished fifth for the team (12th place overall).

Girls Team Scores
Hyde-Woodstock - 18
Hyde-Bath - 41

Our next meet is Wednesday at The University of Maine-Augusta for our MAISAD state championship.

Phoenix athletes are commited to their fellow teammates on and off the field (or court, ice, wrestling mat, river). And even on those occasions when the final score doesn’t favor Hyde, the athletes are cheered into the locker room by dozens of adoring, blue-and-gold-painted fans…that’s sports fans.
