Phoenix 12,  Holderness 24

Phoenix Lose in the Mud

Hyde - 12
Holderness - 24

Two, 2 and 2 teams met on the rain soaked Jaye Family Field in Bath.  A large family weekend crowd combined with the Holderness fans to withstand the rain and the wind to watch two solid team’s battle in the mud.  The name of the game ended up being “whoever can hold on to the ball the longest….wins?”  Holderness Bulls notched 24 points on two pass and two running touchdowns without converting extra points.  Hyde answered with 2 scores from Mike Ingalls ‘10 and a 2 point conversion from Trevor Magloire ‘11. Hyde led going into the fourth 14 -12, however the football became a greased pig for both teams with Holderness capitalizing twice in the 4th after Phoenix Phumbles to end the game on top 24 to 12.  Phoenix football travels next weekend to South Hamilton, Massachusetts to face the Highlanders of the Pingree School for an All Hallows Eve afternoon game.

Phoenix athletes are commited to their fellow teammates on and off the field (or court, ice, wrestling mat, river). And even on those occasions when the final score doesn’t favor Hyde, the athletes are cheered into the locker room by dozens of adoring, blue-and-gold-painted fans…that’s sports fans.
