Hyde - 5
CVA - 2
It was a picture perfect fall afternoon as the Phoenix wound their way along the Carrabassett River towards the base of Sugarloaf Mountain and the CVA soccer field. They were the only MAISAD team Hyde hadn’t played and anticipation was high. Within a minute and a half of the opening whistle, The Phoenix scored on a beautiful corner kick connection as Sage Harris ‘11 headed the ball in the upper left corner. The next fifteen minutes were dominated by Hyde and CVA only managed to carry the ball into their end twice. Opportunity knocked however when they were awarded a free kick and the deflection found its way past Hyde’s keeper. Roughly seven minutes later, CVA scored again on a shot from wide in the box. CVA gained momentum and Hyde was knocked off their game for the remainder of the second half, ending 2-1. After a half time shake up, they returned to the field determined to leave the winner. Six minutes in, Sage Harris ‘11 scored again on a corner kick header to tie the game. It was clearly her day as she scored two more goals on corner kick crosses, putting the Phoenix ahead by two goals. Hyde continued to charge as Zoe Dorian ‘10 finally found the net after several great carries in to the box with a shot from close range. Hyde will attempt to continue its winning streak as they host CVA this Saturday during family weekend.
