It was a picture perfect day for Hyde’s opening men’s and women’s Invitational cross country meet. We competed against fellow MAISAD schools Seacoast Christian, Elan School, Hebron Academy and Kents Hill School.
Thirty-nine runners competed in the men’s race with the following team results… (if you are new to cross county, low score wins).
Boy’s Meet
Elan School - 53
Hyde - 55
Kents Hill - 61
Seacoast Christian - 81
Hebron Academy - 92
Standouts for Hyde included 1st place finisher Zach Pfosi `10, 8th place finisher Ryan Sunshine `12, 10th place finisher Richard Stites `11, and 13th place finisher Sol Melendy `10. For the Hyde Phoenix, all but two runners were competing in their first-ever cross country meet today. Our “pack time” (i.e., the time spread between Hyde’s first runner and fifth runner) of 4:20 needs some improvement but this year’s men’s team has the foundation for a very competitive season.
On the girl’s side, 30 runners competed from the same five schools. Hyde’s Jessica Drymer `10 took 7th place overall. Freshman Emma Falkinburg grabbed 10th place and Jessica Smith `10 came in 13th place. The team results had Hyde finishing third out of four scoring teams. Hyde’s defeat of Kents Hill marks the first girl’s team victory over any opponent since the fall of 2006. For a young and inexperienced Hyde women’s team, this was a major accomplishment.

Seacoast Christian - 45
Hyde - 59
Kents Hill - 85
